Orange is the New Black Renewed

Its third season doesn't even premiere for another two months, but Orange is the New Black has already been given the green light for a fourth season. Considering the massive critical acclaim and huge viewership (well, presumed huge viewership, as Netflix refuses to release ratings numbers), the renewal isn't much of a shock. But, by renewing the series before its newest season even begins, it shows the amount faith Netflix has in it.

Compare this renewal to the recent renewal of House of Cards, and its easy to see that Orange is the New Black is the new favorite child of Netflix. Poor House of Cards wasn't renewed until a month and a half after its third season was released on the streaming site. This renewal ensures that we will get to spend another 13-episodes (26 if you count the unreleased third season) with Piper, Red, and the rest of the Litchfield gang. Unsurprisingly, no details have been released for Orange is the New Black's fourth season; details about the series' third season remain tightly guarded. The third season will be released in all Netflix territories on June 12. House of Cards, on the other hand, is expected to release its fourth (and potentially final) season in early 2016.
