Playstation 4’s Streaming Services Won’t Require Plus

Sony’s PlayStation 4 won’t require players to have a Plus subscription to record, stream and upload game footage.

The news came out yesterday after Twitter users starting asking Sony’s Worldwide Boss Shuhei Yoshida whether or not a Plus membership would be needed, following Microsoft’s announcement that their recording system for the Xbox One will require a Gold subscription.

The Sony head reiterated his ‘No’ answer three times on the social networking site, a answer which was later confirmed by an official UK spokeswoman, who apparently told the gaming site Joystiq, ‘a PS Plus subscription doesn't confer any extra functionality regards recording and streaming games.’

Sony’s next generation console will constantly record your last 15 minutes of gameplay, which you can then edit or publish at your discretion. If you wish, you will also be able to stream live gaming sessions.

The Playstation 4 is scheduled for release later this year and will be available to buy from $399 (£349).
