Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica Getting the HD Treatment

This week’s issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reports that enhanced versions of two seminal Resident Evil titles are on their way to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and one of the most highly praised games of all time, Resident Evil 4, are the two titles included in what Capcom is calling “Resident Evil: Revival Selection.” Right now it is unknown if the games will be sold separately or as a package.

What is known is that they will both be “remastered” versions of the titles and include content that was once exclusive to the PlayStation 2 installments of each game, including extra cutscenes for Code Veronica, and the “Separate Ways” scenario from Resident Evil 4.

With the number of recently released or announced HD-bundles, including Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider, and the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus package, it’s no surprise that Capcom would test the waters with one of their established franchises.

This will be the first time that either of these titles appears on an Xbox platform, with Resident Evil 5 having been the first entry in the franchise to do so. Resident Evil: Code Veronica originally appeared on the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2, while Resident Evil 4 has been on the GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Wii.
