The Radiant website promises, “At Riot, our developers will continue their mission of building incredible games that speak to us personally as players.” To that end their first game, Stonehearth- a 16-bit inspired town-building simulator, will continue development until “it is ready.” However, the same cannot be said for Rising Thunder. The robot fighting game has been placed on permanent hiatus, and the team is being moved to another game that they are “very excited about.” The game will be permanently closed on March 18th. With this move, Riot Games brings in a set of artists who would gel well with their stated goal of improving player experience. We now have to wait and see what the Rising Thunder team is working on next. Is there going to be a League of Legends sequel? Is there going to be a robot fighting RTS mash-up of epic proportions about to melt all of our minds? Who knows? I, for one, am looking forward to finding out. Riot Games is a game publisher founded in 2006, their game League Of Legends is a MOBA juggernaut that has 67 million players per month.
