Rumor Has It: Marvel Gurus Talk Post-Avengers

Welcome to Rumor Has It, Player Affinity’s weekly roundup of highly buzzed-about movie rumors circulating throughout Tinseltown. On this week’s docket, we have rumors about lots of upcoming Marvel films, including The Avengers 2 and Iron Man 3.

Stan Lee talks about The Avengers 2 and rebooting Daredevil and
The Fantastic Four

There was this little movie that came out this weekend called The Avengers. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Well, Marvel’s conglomerate of superheroes grossed $200 million in the States in just three days, giving it the highest grossing opening weekend of any film in motion picture history. It’s not as if we were questioning that there’d be a sequel, but now that it’s more inevitable than it was before – if that’s even possible – we have to wonder who’ll join Tony Stark and the gang for their next adventure.

While doing press for the then-upcoming release of “Avengers,” Marvel Heroes Weekend, and a documentary about his life, comic book legend Stan Lee sat down with I Am Rogue for an interview and – as always – discussed future Marvel projects. When inquire about who he’d like to see join the Avengers in its sequel, he said he’d “be happy if they add the Black Panther and maybe Dr. Strange.” When addressed about Fox possibly giving Daredevil and The Fantastic Four reboots, he said he believed it’d be a good idea to reboot them both, stating his specific love for Daredevil as a character.

Kevin Feige discusses Iron Man 3 and the future of Black Widow

Studio heads usually don’t get too much attention, but Kevin Feige is a grand exception to that rule. The President of Marvel Studios has been working the press circuit for the past several weeks due to the release of the highly anticipated "Avengers." Even when Feige tries discussing the studio’s current successes, the press can’t help but ask him about upcoming projects.

While sitting down with Movieline, Feige stated that:

Tony [Stark] very much goes back to his own world and his life in California [in Iron Man 3] and quickly finds himself in a situation that removes him from any of the access to any of the characters and people he met in Avengers. He has to do it all on his own.

In addition to discussing the third movie centering on Stark, Feige also discussed the possibility of Black Widow getting her own feature film. He says that he wants her to have her own film franchise as well as appear in other Marvel flicks like other heroes in the “Avengers” franchise. However, he also relays the difficulties of making it happen as Marvel only releases two films each year.
