Showtime Announces Ray Donovan, Masters of Sex Premiere Dates
Showtime has taken a bit of a critical beating over the past year, with
Dexter's final season being heralded as one of the worst television finales ever and
Homeland's third season garnering very little in the way of positive buzz with critics or awards. The one large bright spot for the network in 2013 came in the form of freshman drama
Masters of Sex, which brought back some critical shine to the network, although failing to bring in the high ratings found with both
Dexter and
Homeland.

While the first season of
Sex aired in the fall of 2013, Showtime has announced that season two will air this summer. Starting July 13,
Sex will be paired with the returning sophomore drama
Ray Donovan, which had a rocky first season from both a critical and ratings perspective. The move of
Sex to the summer months will allow Showtime to pair
Homeland with a new drama this fall, while allowing
Sex's critical acclaim to anchor the summer schedule as
Dexter once did.
In addition, Showtime has announced that former
Breaking Bad star Betsy Brandt (who was most recently seen on NBC's
The Michael J. Fox Show, which was mercifully canceled) will be joining the cast of
Sex as Dr. Master's new secretary. Both
Ray Donovan and
Masters of Sex will have 12 episode second seasons.
