Showtime’s hit drama Dexter returns for its seventh and final season on Sunday, June 30. In preparation for that momentous day, the network has released the show’s first full-length trailer for the new season.
As expected, things are looking pretty rough for our favorite serial killer, as a new threat has arrived at Miami Metro in the form of Evelyn Vogel, an expert on psychopaths, who may have figured out Dexter’s secret. But it appears that life is even worse for Deb, who has fallen into a dark abyss of sex and drugs (although she claims she’s just under cover) after her decision to kill LaGuerta at the end of last season.
Whether or not Dexter will make it out alive during the final season - or end up in prison for his crimes - is a topic of much debate. From the trailer, it certainly appears that fans should be even more worried about Deb and her spiral into her own darkness (which will, hopefully, result in her portrayer, Jennifer Carpenter, finally receiving some recognition from the Emmys after years of being overlooked), as it looks like not even Dexter will be able to save his sister from her demons this year.
