Sissy Spacek Joins Cast of Netflix Series

The new Netflix series from Damages creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler has added yet another big name to its ever growing cast list. The series, which is currently untitled, already has Friday Night Lights' Kyle Chandler and ER's Linda Cardellini signed on. Today, news broke that Oscar winning actress Sissy Spacek will be joining the series as Chandler and Cardellini's characters's mother. The series is said to be a family drama, dealing with a group of siblings whose secrets come unveiled when their blacksheep brother returns home. Cardellini is set to play the family's youngest, who is also a doctor, while Chandler is set to portray the married middle brother. The aforementioned "black sheep" will be played by  Ben Mendelsohn. There is rumored to be one other sibling still remaining to be cast. kyle-chandler-super-8-premiere-01 Production on the series is expected to start soon, with the series anticipated to launch (in Netflix's patented all at once model) sometime later this year. Considering the considerable pedigree attached to the show, from a production and acting standpoint, the series comes with a number of high expectations. Netflix is coming off an incredibly successful debut year, with two of the site's original series garnering Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, with House of Cards taking home statues at both ceremonies. If the site can produce another hit series, it will be a true force to be reckoned with.
