The next segment in the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 series will be released this year. Sega recently announced that Episode II will be released on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Android mobile devices.
In a press release, Sega states they have been listening to the feedback from players. Episode II will feature new character animations and a completely reworked physics engine. “After twenty years in action, it’s clear that Sonic hasn’t slowed down one bit,” Haruki Satomi, Senior Vice President of Digital Business at Sega of America, stated in the press release. “The first entry in the Sonic 4 saga was a major success. We’ve listened to the fans and been hard at work making sure we recapture that same spirit of fun in Episode II.
A specific release date has not yet been announced. Sega released a trailer alongside the announcement, which teases the “rebirth of a villain” and the return of Tails. You can watch the trailer below:
