Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed 3’s King George Washington DLC and Season Pass

It’s not what we expected, but this time I’d say that’s a good thing. Ubisoft have revealed the first DLC details on Assassin’s Creed 3, the bulk of which will take place in an alternate reality where 1st U.S President George Washington takes an evil turn for the worst and becomes king of the colonies.  In addition, the Tyranny of King Washington will be available in a Season Pass.

While game director Alex Hutchinson recently claimed that the DLC would be the weird and unique segment of the franchise, the creativity of developers on huge titles is often somewhat limited (due to publisher demands, that is). The Tyranny of King Washington looks to be a bold and outlandish campaign that should bring a great sense of variation from the standard single player experience. The game will still be viewed from the view of new hero Connor, but expect a lot of mix ups in terms of scenery, character models and the general art style. It only takes a deeper look in to the featured image to see two musket armed guards in rather extravagant clothing protecting George I (as I hope he will be named).

You can check out the official announcement on the Ubisoft website where the developers explain the background of the DLC:

“As the revolution comes to a close, a new and most unexpected enemy emerges. Driven by the desire to secure the fate of the colonies, the Revolution’s greatest hero, George Washington succumbs to the temptation of infinite power, a new King is born.”

The campaign will be spread over three large DLC packs and will be part of the newly announced Season Pass which buys you all of the Tyranny DLCs as well as two others which are likely to be more multiplayer focused. The pass will be available within six months of the game’s release for 2400 MS Points / £23.99 / $29.99. As well as a 25% saving the Season Pass also gives buyers access to the DLC a week earlier than everyone else. The price is certainly friendlier than the likes of Battlefield 3, but Season Passes have gained something of a stigma as of late so don’t be surprised by the angry comments.

The Tyranny of King Washington looks to be an intriguing and original concept which I am very much looking forward to, check back here at Player Affinity for the latest on Assassin’s Creed 3.
