Veronica Mars Film Adds Familiar Faces to its Cast

As soon as the campaign to fund a Veronica Mars movie made history and smashed all previous Kickstarter funding records, the show’s rabid fan base (many of whom had just spent some of their hard earned cash to help fund the film) began speculating on how many of Mars’s past cast members and guest stars would be making appearances in the much anticipated film. With star Kristen Bell’s return to the title role assured prior to the Kickstarter campaign, participation by other former co-stars was yet to be confirmed.

In the weeks and months following the end of the Kickstarter campaign, names of additional cast members slowly began to trickle out. Among those now confirmed to be reprising their roles in the upcoming film (which recently began shooting) are Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas), Krysten Ritter (Gia Goodman), Tina Majorino (Cindy 'Mac' Mackenzie), Chris Lowell (Piz), Frances Capra (Weevil), and Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel).

The film is expected to continue shooting throughout the summer, with an anticipated release in early 2014. It is expected that additional actors from the television series will continue to be announced as additions to the film as filming continues. Should the Veronica Mars film succeed at the box office, the successful Kickstarter campaign could open the door for the future film revivals of other canceled-too-soon cult favorite television series.
