The Walking Dead to Introduce New Character in Airline Zombie Attack Special

"Dead air."
AMC has had stand-alone The Walking Dead online content before, but never anything like this. According to EW, AMC is producing an online special that will feature a group of passengers faced with a mid-flight zombie attack. For those unconvinced by the need for another zombie-related program, the character who survives will join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in season 2. The airline attack story being told in chapters during The Walking Dead’s commercial breaks certainly offers new opportunities for telling more robust stories than online-exclusive episodes might allow. No word on the title of the special or how it will be divided, but it will be interesting to see what impact it has on both shows beyond the introduction of a new character to The Walking Dead universe. Producers of the online special include Dave Erickson and Fear the Walking Dead co-executive producer David Weiner. The Walking Dead returns October 11. Fear the Walking Dead premiered on August 23 to a record-setting 10.1 million viewers. Season 2 is slated for 2016.
