2013 Game BAFTA Contenders Announced

The nominees for this year's BAFTA Game Awards have now been revealed with 53 games being recognised across 17 categories. This year is shaping up to be a competitive one!


At the front with a whopping eight nominations is the much-celebrated Journey. The indie game created by "thatgamecompany" is up for Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Innovation, Online-Multiplayer, Best Game, Game Design, Story and Original Music. This is a massive list for a game that hasn't really seen major press. 


Just behind Journey seven nods is The Walking Dead, which will be challenging Journey in the Best Game, Game Design, Story and Original Music categories, as well as vying for Mobile & Handheld as well as two awards.


Far Cry 3 is up for six nominations, including Action, Story, Best Game and Game Design, while Dear Esther has five chances to bag a win in categories including British Game, Debut Game and Performer.


Rounding out the list of honored games with four nominations are Borderlands 2, Assasin's Creed III, The Room, and Halo 4 whilst Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Mass Effect 3, Forza HorizonThe Unfinished Swan, and Thomas Was Alone all received three nominations.


LEGO The Lord of the Rings, Need For Speed Most Wanted, FIFA '13, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, New Star Soccer, and Diablo 3 have two nominations each.


The winners will be announced during a ceremony on March 5 at the London Hilton. Head over to the Official BAFTA Page to see whose up for what nominations this year.

Now days I mainly play PC games and got into the PC side of things when I started playing Everquest in 2005. This game opened my eyes to the mmorpg genre and since then have played most MMO's of which World of Warcraft was my most played. Right now I'm playing and streaming DayZ and FIFA with a few other games thrown in here and there. I've worked as a hardware/software technician for Apple the past 4 years and really enjoy working with computers. I have built/modded/overclocked PC's since around 2007 and it's a massive interest of mine. My other hobbies include video editing, carp fishing, golf and playing guitar.
