Amanda Seyfried Joins ‘Les Misérables,’ Taylor Swift Offered Éponine

Cameras for Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables have yet to roll, but the musical's already one of this year’s most discussed projects. The biggest roles yet to be filled had been the younger female roles, Éponine Thénardier and Cosette.

We previously learned that Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele, Taylor Swift, and Evan Rachel Wood auditioned to play Éponine, and it seems Swift has won the prize.

The Playlist relays the studio's offer to Swift in addition to news that Amanda Seyfried has virtually secured the part of Cosette. Seyfried has an opera background and led the hit musical film Mamma Mia! She will look to change her fortunes after a string of critical duds lately including In Time and Red Riding Hood.

Word on Swift is currently unofficial. She’s definitely not the obvious choice (hello there, Lea Michele), but her voice could make for an absolutely beautiful rendition of “On My Own.”
