The Dark Knight Rises solidified its status as one of the year's biggest films this weekend, and Anne Hathaway similarly re-established herself by silencing early critics with her universally well-received performance as Catwoman.
But that's not all, as the actress is already considering what the future might have for her as Selina Kyle. The actress spoke candidly about the possibility of a solo film when asked by Digital Spy recently, pitching the idea first sparked by franchise director Christopher Nolan, who stated earlier this month that Catwoman was worthy of her own spinoff.
"I think it would be lovely to see more of her, but only if it's with the right people" said Hathaway, clearly evoking the spotty at best reputation spin-offs and solo ventures have following the end of a beloved franchise. "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham city. For me, at least."
Hathaway's respect for the creative forces responsible for making the The Dark Knight Trilogy such a success in the first place was apparent from her high praise of Nolan during the interview.
"He's lovely! He trusts us all to do our homework and come in with ideas."
Any Catwoman film within the Nolan-verse will have to be made quickly though, as Warner Bros. has already slated a "Batman" reboot for 2015. Nolan, who was expected to produce the reboot, has since stated that he won't be involved with the project.
