Arnold Schwarzenegger to be ‘Avatar 2’ villain?

To fans of 80s and early 90s action cinema Arnold Schwarzenegger was king and it is easy to argue that his best work was with James Cameron. Now the pair may be reunite for the first time since 1994 for Avatar 2.

Latino Review broke the news that Cameron is looking to his old Terminator to play the villain for the sci-fi sequel. When speaking to MTV News Cameron is quoted saying “It would be a continuation of their story and I expect that those nasty humans didn’t go away forever: ‘Oh, well that didn’t work!’“ If Schwarzenegger does take the role he would be the lead human wanting to invade Pandora.

Since returning to acting Schwarzenegger’s career has yet to hit its stride with The Last Stand only making $37 Million from a $30 budget and his upcoming movies, Escape Plan, Sabotage and The Expendables 3 are all genre flicks. It will be interesting to see Schwarzenegger to play a villain for a change: the only times he played a villain were in The Terminator and Batman and Robin.

Avatar 2 is currently being written by Cameron and War of the Worlds writer Josh Friedman and is currently set to hit theaters in 2016. Schwarzenegger’s next movie Escape Plan will be out on October 18.
