“Bourne Legacy” Narrows Down Its Lead List

The Bourne Legacy has fast become the hottest male lead role in Hollywood these days. In the past months, it seemed that everyone with a screen credit was up for the part, but Deadline has it that the field is narrowing between what can safely be called an eclectic mix of up and coming actors in Hollywood.

Reports indicate that screen testing is underway, with Joel Edgerton (The Thing), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) and Luke Evans (The Amateur American) all scheduled to audition/read for the part. Other reports indicate that Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) are under consideration for the project, though their names are not circulated with much strength or enthusiasm.

It’s likely that Tony Gilroy, who penned the first three films and will helm this project, is not after a big star, especially given the shadow of Matt Damon’s performances in the original trilogy. Given that Gilroy has an Oscar nomination under his belt (for directing Michael Clayton), Universal might be willing to go with a lesser known star for a big reason: they cost less.

Of those names, who do you think could do the best job in a "Bourne"-style film?
