After January's announcement about Twitch.tv support for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (eventually), Activision has announced they will now be adding microtransactions to this, and all future Call of Duty games. Of course, the first thought on most minds is how will this affect gameplay. These fortunately will have no weight on actual gameplay beyond cosmetic touches. As detailed in this blog post, here are a few new things showing up with this microtransaction update.
Personalization Packs
These are packages that will alter your gun's appearance, along with a few targeting reticles and a custom Calling Card. One already announced pack is the Bacon Personalization Pack, which seems to make your guns covered in bacon. These will be bundled together for 160 MS Points.
Nuketown
The Nuketown 2025 pre-order bonus map will be free to all players, allowing even those who opted out of the pre-order to enjoy it. As for Nuketown Zombies, that will be in the MS Store for 400 MS Points as a standalone level.
Extra Slot Packs
With these, you can purchase 10 Create-a-Class sets, as well as archive 20 more emblems, 32 more films, and 40 more screenshots. It boosts your media storage a great amount, and will only be 160 MS Points.
Flags of the World
There will also be packs with national flag-themed Calling Cards from around the world. They will be divided by geographical region, and be 80 MS Points per regional pack.
As you can see, while it is possible for some sort of graphical problem to make things unbalanced, the intention of these packs is only cosmetic, and should let those who want to spice up their modern-military-shooter lives with some great content.
