Cast Fills Out for M. Night Shyamalan and Will Smith’s ‘After Earth’

One would guess that Will Smith fans and whatever fans M. Night Shyamalan has left would have a hard time getting along, but they'll need to shake hand fast as things keep progressing on their upcoming collaboration, After Earth. Formerly known as 1000 A.E., the sci-fi epic starring Smith and son Jaden Smith has roped in Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) and X-Men: First Class star Zoe Kravitz.

The two actresses would play other members of the fictional Smith family. Heat Vision has Okonedo as the wife/mother and Kravitz as the daughter. Okonedo has recently been seen on Doctor Who while Kravitz just received a rising star award from the Bahamas International Film Festival.

The film, written by Shyamalan, Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) and Stephen Gaghan (Syriana) takes place a long time after Earth has become incapable of sustaining human life. Both Smiths crash land on our planet and the son must save the father, a hero in whose shadow he lives.

Columbia plans to release the film in June 2013.
