This weekend, we reported that Christopher Meloni was negotiating to star in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel alongside Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Henry Cavill as the titular superhero. Nothing had been revealed about his role in the film at the time, but now that seems to have changed.
At the Public Theater Gala last week, Meloni stated that his role in the film was that of a general, not Lex Luthor as some had previously speculated. Unfortunately, he wasn’t allowed to disclose any more information, jokingly stating that he’d “have to kill” if he revealed anything else.
Cinema Blend relays fan speculation that the former star of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit might play Lois Lane’s father, General Sam Lane. There is only a 13-year age difference between Meloni and Adams, who plays Lois. However, the actress appears much younger than she actually is, so it might not prove to be a true problem after all. That’s all assuming, of course, that General Sam Lane is the role to which Meloni is attached.
Vulture reports that Meloni’s role will take approximately five months to shoot and that he’ll begin shooting in about two months.
