DC To Sell Combo Packs That Include Digital Code

Looking to take up even more shelf space, DC has announced they will have combo packs for their relaunched comics for $1 more than cover price. Meaning for $4.99 you'll get the printed copy and a code to download the digital copy of the book as well. Otherwise both with sell for $3.99 seperately, with price of the digital copy dropping after about a month. This is actually a great incentive and shows retailers that they shouldn't worry about digital books under cutting them on cost.

Also on that note, Bob Wayne has sent out to retailers their incentives for August to support the print medium. You can check out the full letter at Bleeding Cool since they got a hold of it and it's really boring to read the entire thing. What you need to know is that there will be variants... weekly! Also they're going to offer a big price discount for larger sales orders and allow returns on all 52 #1 issues. It may not be 100% right for retailers, but hey you can't fault DC for trying.

On Wednesday, August 31st, DC Comics will make publishing history again with their first-ever comic book combo pack. Not only will Johns and Lee be collaborating for the first time, but their contemporary take on the origin of the comic book industry’s premier superhero team will be available in DC Comics’ historic first comic book combo pack.

Both digital and print editions of DC’s comics will have parity pricing for the first four weeks of release; thereafter, the digital titles drop in price down to our standard 1.99 digital price point. Oversized issues, including JUSTICE LEAGUE #1, will start at $3.99 and drop to $2.99 after four weeks.
