Deadpool’s Getting Married?

This has to be a joke… right? An April fool’s day prank? Apparently this April of 2014 you are cordially invited to the marriage of Wouldn’t You like to Know and Deadpool!   In Deadpool #27, Deadpool will tie the knot with the help of the combined writing talents of Gerry Duggen, Brian Posehn, Fabian Nicieza, Mark Waid, Joe Kelly, Christopher Priest, Jimmy Palmiotti, Frank Tieri, Gail Simone, Daniel Way and Victor Gischler. Duggen and Posehn have been doing a great job on Deadpool’s Marvel Now! Series but I’m also very happy to see Fabian Nicieza since he wrote one of my favorite Deadpool-related series, Cable & Deadpool and Daniel Way, run on Deadpool is responsible for putting Deadpool on the map and helped me fall in love with the Merc with a Mouth.   [caption id="attachment_46631" align="aligncenter" width="497"]Deadpool Wedding Alpha Flight in the upper right corner! Cable's the best man! Even Spidey dropped in![/caption]   The artistic team will consist of Mike Hawthorn, Scott Koblish and many more. Scott Koblish will be doing the cover, Mark Brooks will be handling the variant cover, Maathew Waite will be doing the “Taco Time” variant and Art Adams will be doing the “Issue #27 Anniversary” variant.   This “Dead Wedding” will be taking place in Deadpool #27. According to writer Gerry Duggen (who refused to identify Deadpool’s bride-to-be) the idea of marriage has been around for a while, “The honest answer is that it was written into a Deadpool story, but more or less as a gag, and Jordan D. White, the editor, was like a dog with a bone. He was like, ‘No, no, no – this is going to be a big deal.’ You know, we wrote it, so it’s not like we weren’t behind it. The fun thing has been – after his misadventures, I guess you’d call them, in North Korea, in the story arc ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,’ he learned a lot about himself and why he is the way he is. He doesn’t really have too much of a life. Yes, this is a knee-jerk reaction from a wounded guy to go out there and sort of do something crazy to sort of jump start a life, but there is a real emotional reason for doing it, so I think that will be the part that will resonate. Then the actual gags of the wedding will be fun too, but there is a real grounding to it, and that’s what will make it fun to explore.”   Deadpool Wedding Invitation   The only two people I could see Deadpool getting seriously involved with are Death and Bea Arthur and I don’t either of them are under that veil. So who could his bride be? And is this just a hoax? I think it’s nothing but an April Fool’s day prank but what do you guys think? Share your opinion in the comments below.
