Dexter – One Down, Two To Go…

Following news last week of casting call information for the sixth season of Showtime’s Dexter, there has been wide speculation of who might fill some of the pivotal roles. Now the first role has been officially cast: TV Line is reporting that Colin Hanks will be joining the show.

Hanks, who has appeared in many television shows from Roswell to his starring role in the short-lived Fox series The Good Guys, is the eldest son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks.

Although his role is currently unconfirmed, based on the vague character descriptions announced last week, his role may well be that of Louis: “A buddy of Masuka’s (C.S. Lee) who joins Miami Metro Police as a new lab intern. Role calls for a caucasian actor in his 30s who is attractive in his own way.” As the two other roles announced call for a woman and an African-American, it seems fairly unlikely that he is what they are looking for there.

With Showtime president David Nevins claiming that this season of the killer show will not focus on one big bad guy like past seasons, it is purely up to speculation as to how involved Hanks will be in the plot at this point, but no doubt updates will come as the season draws closer.
