It has been three years since Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) has been in command of the Enterprise when he and his old crew are called in to take command when a strange machine, V’Ger, is on a destructive course towards Earth.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) (Blu-ray)

Written by David Loughery (screenplay), William Shatner, Harve Bennett, David Loughery (story), Gene Roddenberry (story)
Starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan,. Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier is often seen as the worst Star Trek movie. After William Shatner threaten to leave the Star Trek series Paramount offered him to the chance to direct and even create the story. What we get is an ego-trip from Shatner as Captain Kirk gets to battle God, showcase a half-naked anamorphic cat woman, have Uhura’s do her famous dance (20 years after anyone would want to see it) and giving Spock a half-brother. Fans reacted negatively to the changes, the poor special effects and the comic tone and this is the only movie in the original series that has been retconed out of existence.

Critics Rating (Rotten Tomatoes): 21% (very bad)
Metacritic Rating:
43/100 (poor)
