For some reason, a new trailer for the recently delayed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze released today showing off the returning Dixie Kong. If the delay of Retro Studios’ newest project hurts, then this trailer is here to rub salt in the wound.
Dixie was introduced in Donkey Kong Country 2 and her gimmick was the ability to float with her long blonde hair. Since Diddy can now float in the modern DKC games, Retro decided to allow Dixie to fly upwards for a very brief period before floating like normal. This allows players to save themselves if they came up short in a jump or gain leverage to items or platforms high up.
Dixie also jumps higher than Donkey and Diddy, but unfortunately like DKC Returns, Dixie and Diddy are forced to play second banana once more. They stay mounted on Donkey’s back unless a second player joins in.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze launches this February on Wii U.
