Dreamcast Titles Coming to PSN and XBL

After months of anticipation and speculation due to leaked internal documents from Sony regarding digital re-release of PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast titles on PSN, Sega has finally confirmed that Dreamcast titles are making a return to consoles.

and Sonic Adventure are to be the first titles from the Dreamcast’s venerable library to land on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. These titles will be enhanced for their re-release on PSN and XBL; retrofitted with high-definition graphics, surround sound, and complete with Trophies and Achievements.

These titles are but the first of a series of games from the Dreamcast’s library to land on PSN and XBL. This is an exciting prospect indeed; allowing PS3 and 360 owners to reminisce in some of their favorite titles from the previous generation and giving newcomers the chance to play games that they never had the opportunity to experience.

As someone who spent the entirety of the last generation with a Gamecube, I eagerly await the chance to sink my teeth into revered titles such as Shenmue and Jet Grind Radio.

Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi are slated to land on digital services this fall to coincide with the 11thanniversary of the Dreamcast’s American launch.
