‘Drive’ Director Could Helm ‘Wonder Woman’

We advocate not counting your chickens before they hatch, but this is an interesting one. After speaking with The Playlist, Nicolas Winding Refn—whose latest film Drive has been earning raves virtually everywhere it’s been shown this year— strongly believes that if his Logan’s Run remake is successful, he could (major could) be handed the keys to Wonder Woman.

Refn said “I would love to make Wonder Woman… I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros hasn’t called yet…I’m getting closer with Logan’s Run… someone said to me in a meeting that if I get Logan’s Run right, then I’ll get Wonder Woman.”  Wonder Woman has a long history of issues making it to the big screen; actually, she’s never made it there. We will have to wait and see what Warner Bros. wants to do, as they have not disclosed the direction of Wonder Woman quite yet.

Refn has been mostly recognized in his native Denmark since the 1990s.  Recently, since 2008, he has been making waves is the U.S. and is most recognized for working on Bronson—starring Tom Hardy. Now he has been brought onboard to create the remake of Logan’s Run, featuring Ryan Gosling (Drive), with a release date in 2013.
