I am so not making this up! Electronic Arts has announced that players who buy Dead Space 2 will unlock a set of Dead Space armor in Dragon Age II. This is much like the Blood Dragon armor which players could use in the original Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2, but this time it is being used in games created by two different developers.
The cheekily-named "Ser Isaac of Clarke’s Armor" consists of a suit of Armor, Boots, Gauntlets, and helmet, all of which have similar in-game stats which include:
o Contains a rune slot
o Increases armor
o Critical damage factor
o Requires high dexterity and cunning
But the stats aren't what is really important here. The fun will come from fighting the Darkspawn while pretending that you're in outer space, stomping Unitologists. EA states that "In Dragon Age II, the chilling tales of Ser Isaac of Clarke are a favorite of bards performing in the wee hours of the night. In dank taverns throughout the land, these horror-filled stories captivate listeners and bring nightmares to those faint of heart." It isn't clear if there is any sort of in-game dialog to go along with this notion, though.
For XBox or PC users, the Dead Space rig will be available as a one-use code which comes free with new copies of the game; Playstation 3 owners will have a different method of distribution. Dead Space 2 comes out this Tuesday, but buyers will have to wait until March 8th to use that code when Dragon Age II comes out.
