Japan Sales Update

The PS3 always shows up on top in Japan, right alongside the PSP, so it was a bit of a shock when the Wii surpassed the PS3 just last week for second place. One week later found that the PS3 pushed the Wii back to its proper place on the Japanese charts.  There was no real reason for this sudden change, but apparently all of the consoles saw a slight drop in sales except for the Xbox 360.  This could be because of the fact that Bayonetta is bundled along with Forza 3 on the 360, both of which are hugely popular games in Japan.

Go Gohan .... uh wait

More news from Japan includes the widely successful release of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, from Square Enix, which has sold just over the 1 Million mark this past week after only being out for three weeks.  Sadly, we haven’t been given an exact date when this widely successful game will be in the U.S., but it is coming.  With Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming out for the Wii this week, the Wii may step back up again, especially when one considers all of the positive responses Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been getting from gaming critics.  Nintendo has been stepping up these last few years, but so has Sony. So, we’ll have to wait and see which console can pull ahead and stay there.
