Jay Leno Leaving Late Night

NBC announced that Jay Leno will be leaving the Tonight Show and will be replaced by Jimmy Fallon.  There had been rumors circulating that Leno was on his way out, but we now know that his last show will be on February 6, 2014.

Back in 2009, Leno temporarily left The Tonight Showand was replaced by Conan O’Brian. However, that did not last long. On air Leno wished Fallon all the best, but according to one former NBC exec, Don Ohlmeyer, Leno is not thrilled about leaving.
"Oh, bullshit. I’m sure Jay [Leno] says that [he's happy about leaving The Tonight Show] to everybody who asks him, but for the Jay that I know, his heart has to be breaking about this. All he wanted to do in his life was The Tonight Show. And instead of going out the way Johnny Carson went out, he’s going out having to make self-deprecating jokes about being fired. I will not be surprised if he pops up in some way in late-night television.”

Leno's last episode is the night before the start of the 2014 Olympic games. After the games are over, Fallon will begin his tenure. Word has it that Seth Meyers will be taking over Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Many people are sad to see Leno leave. but this a great opportunity for Jimmy Fallon and many of his fans are excited.
