Since picking up an Oscar nomination for The Hurt Locker, Jeremy Renner has made a name for himself in the action genre with features such as The Town and next month's Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. He’s been locked and loaded for next summer's Bourne Legacy in that time and recently spilled some details on the project.
Renner sat down with Empire to discuss his character and how he’d be incorporated into the already complex universe of the “Bourne” series, and here’s what Renner had to say:
“My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names. For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new program and new characters.”
He also relayed that Treadstone still has a place in the series and that “it’s the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger.”
There hasn’t been much anticipation for a fourth “Bourne” feature on my end, but consider my perspective changed. Renner’s a terrific presence on camera, and an expansion of the undercover world that’s already been explored sounds like it could make for an engaging and entertaining action flick.
