Turn off the Lights

Kevin Bacon for ‘R.I.P.D.’ Villain

R.I.P.D. has been building steam over the past sixth months, ever since director Robert Schwentke (RED) was tapped to helm with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges leading up the cast. Now, Variety reports that Kevin Bacon is in final talks to join the project as the film’s main antagonist.

The film will be based on the comic by Peter Lenkov, which tells the story of Officer Nick Cruz (Reynolds) who is shot and killed in the line of duty. Upon crossing over, he learns of a law enforcement agency, the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), tasked with their own laws to enforce on Earth from the afterlife. Intrigued, he enlists with the department in an attempt to stop his killer, presumably to be played by Bacon (though not confirmed). Bridges is set to play Bo, a longtime member of the department.

One can't deny Bacon makes for a good villain after giving a better-than-expected turn as Sebastian Shaw in this summer's "First Class," as well as earning some camp points for Hollow Man and The River Wild

The film is scheduled to be released on June 28, 2013.
