Kevin Costner Playing Clark Kent’s Father in Zack Snyder’s “Superman” Reboot

Zack Snyder’s reboot of Superman has boasted a rather interesting casting history. British actor Henry Cavill was chosen to play Clark Kent, sending many American moviegoers into a rage, despite the fact that Kent is neither American nor British. Then we learned that Diane Lane would play Clark’s adoptive mother, Martha.

Now Deadline Hollywood confirms that Kevin Costner will play Martha’s husband and Clark’s adoptive father, Jonathan. He entered talks a little while ago, but nothing was official until recently. Also, the film now looks to release in December of 2012.

I was holding out for a fun, tongue-in-cheek casting of Josh Brolin as Jonathan, but I should have known better. Costner is definitely an interesting choice; although I’m not a fan of his work in general, he should work just fine alongside Lane and Cavill.

How do you feel about Kevin Costner being cast in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot?
