Laurence Fishburne is Perry White in ‘Man of Steel’
With filming almost underway on Zack Snyder's "Superman"'s
Man of Steel, some final missing holes in the casting are being filled. Laurence Fishburne will play
Daily Planet editor Perry White.
Hero Complex reports Fishburne will be the first black actor to play Perry White in any capacity on TV or in film. White was previously played in the movies by Frank Langella (
Superman Returns), Jackie Cooper in the Christopher Reeve films and Michael McKean on TV's
Smallville. The most infamous portrayal of White came from John Hamilton on TV and radio, who coined the character's famous catchphrases "Great Caesar's ghost!" and "Don't call me 'Chief'!"
Fishburne, most famous for offering Keanu Reeves pills in
The Matrix, comes off two and a half seasons of
CSI. He'll be bossing around
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and
Amy Adams as Lois Lane in the film, which debuts in
June of 2013.
He will be featured in Steven Soderbergh's
Contagion in September
