Mario Kart 8 Getting Updated, Mercedes-Benz DLC Soon
Nintendo announced that an update will hit
Mario Kart 8 on August 27th. The two million+ who purchased the game will get some well-needed fixes, as well as some free DLC.
For the DLC, the Japanese-only Mercedes-Benz GLA kart will be added to the vehicle list, and alongside it will be two more models: the W25 Silver Arrow and the 300 SL Roadster. While some gamers equate product placement with negative feeling, this one is so silly that it has to crack a smile.
In terms of fixes, one will fix the most annoying part in
Mario Kart 8: when you finish a race, the default option will no longer be watching the match’s highlights, and instead will be moving on to the next race.
The patch will also add the map to the TV screen instead of exclusively on the GamePad, improve online stability, add the ability to edit others’ highlights, save the last used kart customization for your next race and add a records screen (coin collected, will/loss ratio online, character selection rate and more).
In related Mario Kart news, Nintendo seemed to quietly released the original
Super Mario Kart on the Wii U Virtual Console. Their releases are usually on Thursdays, so maybe they snuck it in or accidentally released it early and didn't bother taking it off.
