When Darren Aronofsky left the helm of The Wolverine earlier this year, it left 20th Century Fox in quite the predicament. A matter of a couple weeks ago, however, a list of eight directors on the studio's shortlist emerged, and now it appears that one of those eight definitely won’t be occupying the director’s seat.
Mark Romanek, director Never Let Me Go and One Hour Photo, revealed to Digital Spy that he wouldn’t be stepping on board to helm The Wolverine. In his own words:
"That script [for The Wolverine] was a terrific version of that kind of thing, but not something I felt really passionate about."
If the eventual director is on the list, we still have seven directors in the running: Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), Justin Lin (Fast Five), James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), Gavin O’Connor (Miracle), José Padilha (Elite Squad 2), and Gary Shore (the short feature The Draft).
Which one of these seven do you think would be the best for The Wolverine?
