Turn off the Lights

Megan Fox and John C. Reilly to Cameo in ‘The Dictator’

Megan Fox has had it quite rough lately. After being kicked out of the Transformers franchise for her infamous Hitler quip, she starred in the low-grossing, negatively received drama – and future camp classic – Passion Play opposite Mickey Rourke. However, the world of comedy has given her a new outlet for her acting.

She recently finished work on Jennifer Westfelt’s comedy Friends with Kids alongside Adam Scott and Kritsen Wiig and will shoot for the Judd Apatow-helmed This is Forty during the summer. Now she’s snagged yet another significant comedic role, even though the screen time will be minimal.

Fox and comedy mainstay John C. Reilly will have cameo appearances in The Dictator, Larry Charles’s upcoming mockumentary led by Sacha Baron Cohen and Anna Faris. The Hollywood Reporter states that Paramount wouldn’t reveal the specific nature of their roles; my guess is that they’ll be fictionalized versions of themselves, but even if that’s not the case, it’s nice that there’ll be an element of surprise to their cameos.

Unlike his previous film ventures, Cohen will portray two different characters in The Dictator: a goat herder and a Saddam Hussein-esque dictator, very much in the vein of how Peter Sellers played multiple characters in the dark comedy classic Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
