Mila Kunis is Officially A Wicked Witch

Mila Kunis will play Theodora in Disney’s Wizard of Oz prequel Oz, The Great and Powerful. She will star alongside James Franco, who will play the titular character. Variety relays that Amy Adams, Keira Knightley, and several other actresses were in contention for this role.

The legendary Sam Raimi serves as director on this project, and met with Franco and Kunis some time ago to discuss the casting. Both Franco and Raimi agreed that Kunis would be perfect to play this particular character.

While I’ll admit that I can’t quite picture Kunis as the Wicked Witch of the West, I haven’t seen the script penned by David Lindsay-Abaire, who wrote the play Rabbit Hole as well as its film adaptation. Additionally, I was blown away by her nuanced performance opposite Natalie Portman in Black Swan, so I’ll trust that this is a good decision.

What do you think of Mila Kunis playing the Wicked Witch of the West?
