Mutant Mudds Deluxe’s New Content Exclusive to Wii U, Sequel in Development

Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham stated to his Twitter followers that the Wii U eShop director’s cut of Mutant Mudds, labeled Mutant Mudds Deluxe, will have its extra content stay exclusive to the Wii U. Mutant Mudds launched on the 3DS eShop in January 2012, PC in August and iOS in November while the Wii U version is slated for a Q1 2013 release window.

Watsham has been teasing info about what’ll be included in Mutant Mudds Deluxe, stating, “it’s going to have even more unique content.”

Mutant Mudds is a 2D platformer about a boy named Max trying to prevent an invasion of mud aliens by destroying them with a water gun. The game allowed the player to jump from the background to foreground of levels, which used the 3DS’ stereoscopic 3D as a gameplay tool versus a simple visual effect. The game’s PC/iOS re-release allowed the player to play as Max’s grandmother, though the original 3DS version gained the extra content via DLC.

In other Mutant Mudds news, Watsham also confirmed via Twitter that Renegade Kid is developing a sequel. While platforms are unknown at the time, the four systems that the original is on are good hints. Mutant Mudds 2 is aiming for a 2013 release, but development will not ramp up until Mutant Mudds Deluxe is finished.
