MVC3 Breaks Street Date

Broken street dates are becoming more and more commonplace. For the unintiated, a broken street date basically means that some retailers started selling the game early. This can be for a variety of reasons, but most of the time it boils down to sales. Smaller retailers don't get to offer the pre-order goodies that the big boys can and thus start selling copies early to stay competitive.

Apparently these stores selling the copies were on the east coast. I live on the east coast and this is honestly the first I've heard of it. The street date, was broken as early as two days ago. That means that some people have been playing this game all weekend, and I'm jealous.

We can just add MvC3 to the long list of titles that have broken release date. One thing is sure, Capcom probably isn't too beat up about it. After all, they are selling out.

What do you think about broken street dates? Do you think it's fair to allow smaller retailers to sell games early to stay competitive? Let me know in the comments below or on my twitter @Invadersims.
