Definitely winning our "Did Not See THAT Coming Award", the new Need For Speed game will have you running around with bipedal foot travel... Without a car! "Running" is the industry term for this sort of gameplay, and that's not all, there'll also be jumping, climbing and hand-to-hand combat. All in what is purported to be a driving game!
But don't worry, this isn't some Grand Theft Auto Clone, rather the out of car sequences will be handled through quick-time-event style gameplay. That means that you won't directly control the character, but will be expected to hit button combinations during inter-active movie sequences along the lines of Heavy Rain (Or Dragon's Lair for you old timers).
But it won't a linear pass-or-fail sort of gameplay; screwing up a move will result in a branching path that makes the movie sequence play out differently (Such as a fistfight dragging on longer if you don't take out your opponent right away with a perfect button combo).
And, yes, there's going to be a bunch of driving real fast in cars too, just as you'd expect from a Need For Speed game.Need For Speed The Run will hit PC, Xbox and Playstation 3 on November 15th of this year.
