Turn off the Lights

Netflix Brings Back The Killing

The Killing is officially the show that will just not go away no matter what they do to it however many times the network cancels it, it will live on. After being brought back from the dead from its first cancellation for a third season on AMC, Netflix is taking its turn in resurrecting the crime drama. What is it about this program that gives it its powers of resurgence?  According to Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland, “The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send-off. We are looking forward to offering fans - both existing and new - a series that we know is perfectly suited for on-demand viewing.” Sarah and Stephen, of course, are the homicide detectives at the center of the series’ mysteries and will come back for a six-episode final mini-season on the streaming site.

Though Netflix doesn’t make its “ratings” public, The Killing must have been performing extremely well on the streaming website for them to revive the series. This, as well as Fox Studio’s reluctance to give up on the drama and let go its stars off their long-term contracts, are strong reasons for the show’s third life. Are you looking forward for new episodes of The Killing?
