Netflix Orders Series from Damages Creators

A new Netflix original series is coming our way. This time the new series comes from Damages creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler. The new series, described as a psychological drama, has been given a thirteen-episode order. The yet to be titled series is written and executive produced by the Todd and Glenn Kessler and Zelman and will center on a “family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home,” per Deadline. The writers stated: “We’ve always wanted to put our spin on a family saga and examine universal themes of family in a way that has ever been seen before on television. The series is a tightly wound thriller that explores the complex bonds between parents and children, brothers and sisters, and the rivalries, jealousies, and betrayals at the core of every family. We are absolutely thrilled to be creating an original series for Netflix — a company committed to cutting-edge storytelling in a vibrant, new space,” The series is set to go on production in early 2014.

This new development definitely suggests that Netflix has been successful with their original content. Though the company isn’t keen on divulging exact viewer numbers or subscription number details, the fact that they are adding more original series for their repertoire bodes well. Cindy Holland, Vice President of original content for Netflix had this to say about the new addition, “We were spellbound after hearing Todd, Glenn and Daniel’s pitch, and knew Netflix was the perfect home for this suspenseful family drama that is going to have viewers on the edge of their seats. Their work on Damages was truly ahead of its time.”
