New FIFA Street In The Works

EA Sports are set to reboot the FIFA Street franchise, with a new game due out in March. According to EA's website, the game is being worked on by EA Canada, the studio behind the Skate franchise and Need for Speed Underground. Described as "the most authentic street football game ever made" FIFA Street is set to use FIFA 12's player collision and dribbling physics as the backbone for a more fast-paced, arcadey experience. From EA's official website:

"Powered by the criticall acclaimed FIFA 12 gameplay engine and the revolutionary Player Impact Engine, FIFA Street delivers an arsenal of groundbreaking street dribbling styles and trick moves that ignite the one-on-one battles. [FIFA Street] replicates the way the game is played by street footballers all over the world...From parking lots and parks to gyms and rooftop arenas, FIFA Street will feature cool and unique environments where the world plays street football."

Though fairly popular with fans, the FIFA Street franchise has an inconsistent track record. FIFA Street 3 in particular put off a lot of hardcore soccer fans with its highly stylised visual design. But, with FIFA 12's extraordinary physics technology behind this upcoming iteration, combined with a plethora of new trick moves, there should be enough to satisfy both traditionalists and more flairy players.

The latest FIFA Street will debut on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in March.
