New Jackie Robinson Biopic in Motion

Given how sports biopics never go out of style, the latest news out of Burbank does not exactly surprise most. Jackie Robinson, one of the most prolific baseball players to have ever lived will be getting the big screen treatment: Chadwick Boseman (The Express) and Harrison Ford are set to star in the Legendary Pictures project.

The press release goes into further details on Boseman and Ford's roles, stating "Boseman will depict the iconic baseball star, paying tribute to the legacy and impact Robinson made when he became the first African-American Major League Baseball player." Ford will star as Branch Rickey, the Brookly Dodgers general manager known for breaking the sport's color barrier.

The project will be the directorial debut of writer Brian Helgeland, whose writing credits include L.A. Confidential and Mystic River. Naturally he is also writing this film. Legendary was quick to stress that early work has already been established by reaching out to Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, in an effort to add credibility and authenticity to the project.
