New Tomb Raider Multiplayer Details Emerge

When it was announced last week, little was known about the multiplayer for Tomb Raider, the reboot of the beloved action adventure series from Crystal Dynamics and Square-Enix. However, new details have emerged thanks to a post on the Tomb Raider forums, taking the info straight from an article on the Offical Xbox Magazine.

The multiplayer will pit Lara Croft's companions against island dwellers dubbed "scavengers" in a series of games ranging from traditional Team Deathmatch to a variety of brand new modes. "Rescue" has survivors scouring the maps for medi-kits to deliver to various locations while scavengers look to reach a certain kill count. Another mode, "Cry for Help" was mentioned but no details were given. Maps are not very spacious and have various traps and pitfalls that can lead to a demise just as quick as a bullet. Players can choose from a deep roster of characters, though surprisingly excluding Lara herself, and can carry a primary firearm/bow, sidearm, throwing projectile and a climbing axe used for melee. For a series known for single-player-only campaigns, only time will tell if the new multiplayer is a detriment to the product as a whole. You can find the full post hereTomb Raider hits store shelves March 5, 2013 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.
