No Gay Sex In The Old Republic At Launch
If you were hoping to "Cross Lightsabers" in
Star Wars: The Old Republic, you'll be sad to hear that same-sex romantic subplots with NPCs are not going to be an option at launch. This is a surprise, considering that Bioware's last game
Dragon Age 2 surrounded the player with a gang of priapic bisexuals.
The slutty bisexual NPC has long been a trademark feature of Bioware games, dating right back to a "Bug" in
Knights of the Old Repubic that would let female characters romance a slinky alien catgirl. The trend continued in
Jade Empire with princess Silk Fox (A perfect name for a girl-on-girl porn star if I ever heard one), and the developers even made sure to include a whole planet full of blue space lesbians in
Mass Effect. Ultimately, in
Dragon Age 2, almost every companion NPC was ready to shag the Player's character, regardless of gender.
Stephen Reid, SWTOR's Senior Online Community Manager announced earlier this week that "
Due to the design constraints of a fully voiced MMO of this scale and size, many choices had to be made as to the launch and post-launch feature set. Same gender romances with companion characters inStar Wars: The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature." Reid also suggested that upcoming expansion packs might include "
the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options".
One can only hope that this means a Gratuitous Space Lesbians DLC pack is on the horizon, or perhaps a Man-Wookiee Love Association expansion.
