Olivia Wilde and 7 more up for playing Lois Lane

The casting of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot took place over the weekend, but despite your position on that, our attention now moves who gets the gig of Lois Lane. Dianna Agron (Glee), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Kristen Bell, Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Kristen Stewart, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) have all been thrown around as possibilities to play the Daily Planet reporter, but Latino Review got a tip that Olivia Wilde of House fame is in contention for the role.

From Latino Review:

“NOW I got word from a close reliable source WHO I CAN NOT MENTION, SO STOP WITH THE ‘WHO IS YOUR SOURCE’ as if I am actually going to tell you and have that person get fired or in trouble.

What I was told today was that Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens) has tested for Lois Lane in ‘Superman.’ The source knows this because they've been hired to work on ‘KIN’ and the dates may be pushed back to accommodate the ‘Superman’ schedule should she get the gig. They also mentioned to me that the Rachel McAdams story is true.”

Wilde's work in Tron: Legacy left much to be desired, but she capably handled her small role in the otherwise dull The Next Three Days. She boasts the sharp look and natural charisma that is ideal for playing Lois Lane, so it would be a welcome decision in my book.

Her next role will be in Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. This film will help audiences further gauge her ability to perform in genre films, but we can expect an official casting announcement for Lois Lane -- Wilde or no Wilde --quite some time before that hits theaters this July.

What are your thoughts on the House actress possibly stepping into the shoes of Lois Lane? Any other actresses on that list you like.
