Overstrike comes from Insomniac, the guys behind the awesome Ratchet and Clank franchise. This marks their first multiplatform title and it looks frikin cool to say the least. One thing the Ratchet and Clank series is known for are outrageous weapons. This seems to be in full effect here, that goo gun looks pretty awesome for starters. The upcoming Ratchet and Clank game is centred around a team and this game seems to be following a similar setup. Insomniac’s talent at creating larger than life characters is also present here which is a constant highlight from the Ratchet and Clank games.
While you can’t take much as iron clad from a trailer like this, it very clearly sets up what kind of game you can expect this to be. I got a “If Insomniac made a squad-based shooter, what would that be like” vibe from the whole trailer. There are a lot of talented guys at the studio and this trailer is seriously awesome, I’m itching to see some gameplay though which hopefully isn’t too far away. I think it’s great that Insomniac are giving Xbox owners a chance to see what they’re capable of, Overstrike doesn’t have a release date set as of now but it's not unreasonable to say 2012.
