Peach Confirmed for Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS

On every workday, Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai posts at least one new screenshot for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS on the game's official Miiverse and website. Usually the goal of them is to show off the detail in the stages, the fetail in the fighters or tease a bit of the characters' movesets.

However, there are some days where his posts announces something completely new. In the last few weeks, Sakurai showed off new Pilotwings and Metroid stages for the Wii U version of the game. Today marks one of those special days with the announcement of a returning character, Peach.

Sakurai released ten new screenshots of the game, all staring the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Like with most returning characters, Peach doesn’t look too much different here than she did in Brawl or Melee, though those gloves look awfully detailed. Her moveset is still much like her previous forms too with Toad shielding her against his will, hip bumping and slashing with her crown in midair.

The addition of Peach increases the known roster count to fifteen along with Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Link, Kirby, Pit, Samus, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Fox McCloud, Olimar and the three newcomers: Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Mega Man. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will be releasing for, you guessed it, the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS respectfully and has a “planned release” for 2014.
